E2 Visa: Lynda’s Tic Toc Diner

E2 Visa - Lynda and Marcel - Diner

E2 Visa – Lynda and Marcel – DinerHi,

My name is Lynda and I am from Manchester, England. I met my Belgian husband whilst working overseas.

Although we had not lived in the States prior to moving here, it had long been a dream of ours. My sister has lived in the States since the 1980’s and we were frequent visitors. During our visits, we always enjoyed the sense of freedom and the ability to recognize opportunities that were presented. It always seemed that if you had a dream and were willing to work hard, you really could achieve anything that you set your heart on. We had grown restless and so we were looking for a new way of life for us. We just wanted to move away from Europe and start over…..Continued below…..

We did a lot of research on the internet to educate ourselves on the types of visas that were available, what their requirements were and how much they cost, etc. The next step was to find an immigration attorney who could walk us through the process and give us the advice that we needed.

“It was a pleasure to be able to give you and your team a well-deserved testimonial. Thank you for your support throughout our journey thus far. I know we still have a little further to go, but we can see the light at the end of this tunnel! Jeremy has been an absolute rock star for us. I have really enjoyed working with him and found him to be super helpful. Although I have told him so many times, please let him know how much we appreciate him.”

We have found that Chris does takes a great deal of pride in his work and will not submit a half baked package to immigration and cross his fingers and hope for the best. Your case will not be submitted for approval to immigration until he is as sure as he possibly can be that there will be a positive outcome. I wholeheartedly trusted Chris and his team to prepare my case as carefully as they would for any of their own immediate family.

Of course, until you are approved, you are always a little nervous. If you were not anxious, then maybe you don’t want that dream to really come true. As soon as we learned that our visa had been approved, we were all so very relieved and absolutely ecstatic. For us, this was a whole new beginning and we were so ready for it. We hugged each other and cried and then called all of our friends who had supported us.

We have owned our diner for the past 5 1/2 years on our E2 visa – since we obtained our visas from within the US each renewal has been for two years at a time. However, just recently we flew to Belgium to have the E2 visa renewed again as we’d not left the US in all of that time. The American Embassy in Belgium gave us five years – yeah!

We have worked with Chris from when our relocation to the US was a dream through each E2 visa since with 100% success. Funny thing is that, because we moved to Charlotte, we have never met Chris and his team in person.  We have spoken on the phone many times and have spent many hours sending emails back and forth. The Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram has an excellent online case management system that made all of documentation handling very convenient; all we had to do was upload what they requested to our case file and they took care of the rest.

We love our business; it is a quaint old diner, originally established in the 1940’s, still with its original tile floor and retaining “Tic Toc ” in the name. Older, local inhabitants of Charlotte still remember the diner from the 60’s and love to reminisce about “the good old days”. We now serve mainly the business community in this very busy banking city and enjoy seeing regular customers and familiar faces each day.

I can honestly say, that in the 5 1/2 years that we have lived here, there is nothing that we miss about Europe. We recently visited family and it didn’t take us long to realize that we don’t belong there anymore; this is our home and we are so happy here.

My advice to anyone considering to relocate to the US is don’t give up, ever. There may be days when things don’t go according to plan, but maybe that IS the plan. Accept the hiccups, fix the problems and move on. Don’t sweat over things that are beyond your control, resolve issues that you can control and believe in yourself every day. This is YOUR dream, you CAN make it happen.

E2 Visa Success Story – Lynda’s American Dream: It’s amazing how time flies. I’ve been working with Lynda and her family for some years now. I remember our very first phone call to this day. Lynda was very passionate to experience the American Dream and nothing was going to stop her. What Lynda was looking for was an immigration lawyer who would be equally passionate to make sure that she did all of the right things to make it happen. I’m very glad she found my law firm. We too are very passionate about working with our clients. As an immigrant myself from Northampton, England, relocating with my wife and three children in 1999, I definitely know first hand what clients might be feeling. For me it felt like standing at the edge of a very high diving board, feeling the knots in my stomach as I agonized about taking the plunge, knowing that once I was in mid-air there was no turning back. Today, I still get those feelings when a client is about to take the plunge, only this time I’ve made this jump hundreds of times so feel I’m able to give my clients all the reassurance they need and the expertise to give them a great experience.
