EB1 Green Card – Algorithmic Architect – India

The demand for top level engineers in the US is literally insatiable, so we’re looking for as many Engineers and IT experts as possible we can qualify for self-sponsored EB1 green cards. Sridhar shares his amazing story to help inspire others to go for it.

1. Tell me about where you are from and a little bit about your career and what you do

[Sridhar]: I was born and raised in India. By profession, I am an Electrical Engineer with a focus on Signal Processing. I hold Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from India and Masters degree and certification courses from United States.

I have had the most exciting opportunities and have contributed to both academia and industry over the past 12+ years creating new technologies myself, leading cross functional teams to help them create new technologies, satisfying customers’ needs and enabling them to make solid investment decisions.

2. Have you ever lived in the US before? If so, under what circumstances? If not, what aroused your interest in a move to the US?

[Sridhar]: As a technical guy, I dreamt of being a part of silicon valley and contributing to the latest advancements. In order to do so, I needed strong educational foundation, relevant research and industrial work experience in the international setting. Along the way I picked them up one by one until I landed in the west coast.

3. How did you decide to pursue an EB1?

[Sridhar]: Even after spending 7 years in the valley I didn’t have a predictable way to stay long term in the country and contribute even more.  Like other fellow engineers, I have been waiting in the EB2 queue only to realize that the queue is becoming longer and the priority dates are retrogressing faster. This is when I started reading about the US immigration laws and realized I would qualify as an EB1 Extraordinary ability candidate. I knew at that very moment that it wouldn’t be easy to prove I am an EB1 candidate because of my wide variety of experiences and contributions to the industry. I needed some one professional who can charter through all my achievements and form a convincing case. This is when I shopped around for a good immigration attorney and I am glad I found Chris’s team.

4. What was your experience with the EB1 petition process? Did you ever consider giving up? What was your motivation to keep pressing on?

[Sridhar]: Fundamentally I believed I am an EB1 candidate. This was the driving force for me to put together all the pieces of the puzzle. There were days when I would be excited that I could get all the relevant documentation for a particular category and there were days when I couldn’t even find the required ones. I ended up finding ways and in some cases working towards obtaining the missing components of the case. This meant my evenings, nights and weekends are occupied with working. Thanks to my wife being supportive of my efforts, I was able to get the required items in place on time.

5. What kind of relationship did/do you have Chris (and his team)?

[Sridhar] : I have an excellent relationship with Chris and his Team. Chris knows in and out of how the entire immigration and law system works and explains in a very straightforward and simple language. Lindsey, has been handling major portion of my case and knows every word of the immigration law on the back of her head. She was very easily available over phone and email to answer all my queries. In the first phone call itself, Lindsey and Chris gave me a very honest picture of what is available and what needs to be obtained for my case. They could highlight my achievements in a way I couldn’t think of before. From then on, every discussion we had was in line with that strategy and any changes were reinforcing the original strategy. In my opinion, Chris and his team have an astounding knowledge on immigration matters and have the right acumen to get the job done. Forums aren’t appropriate place to get an understanding of a certain portion of law, they are mere opinions of individuals who aren’t familiar with nitty gritty of the law. I would recommend Chris M Ingram’s law firm to any one who is serious about their case and obtaining results.

6. What were you doing when you found out you were approved? What was your immediate reaction? How did you celebrate?

[Sridhar]: I was at work when a text message came on my phone notifying that there has been an update on my case. I checked my email and found that my case is approved. I immediately called my wife who was in a meeting at that time at work. I asked her to come out and broke her the news. We both were excited to know our hard work paid off. Minutes later I received a call from Lindsey congratulating me. My wife and I took the rest of the day off and celebrated at home.

7. What have you enjoyed most about moving to the US?

[Sridhar]: The exciting work opportunities making a difference in peoples lives. The diverse set of people to learn from their backgrounds and experiences.

8. What do you miss the most about the India?

[Sridhar]: Family and Food.

9. What advice would you give to any immigrant considering an EB1 or who is already in the process?

[Sridhar] : Patience and Perseverance. There would be days when stars align in your favor and days when they wouldn’t. These are the only two things that kept me going forward. In my experience I found understanding the laws and being knowledgeable about how to fight for your case helps. You are the best person to dig and find your achievements and Lawyers can then strategize a best case around it based on current legal proceedings. In my opinion these two efforts complement each other and give you a good chance of winning your case.
