EB1- Film Producer – Richard

EB1 Green Card – Richard – Film Producer, China.

Richard is an internationally-renowned and highly accomplished film producer who has won important national awards at the Chinese Academy Awards for Documentary Film and the Taiwan International Documentary Festival. Richard had travelled all around the world for his work before he reached out to us to inquire about the EB1.

With a career like Richard’s, his extraordinary talent was evident, and we are so pleased to have secured an EB1 approval for him!

How did you work your way up the ranks to reach your level and what were some of the challenges along the way?

I started to work with some very talented local filmmakers about seven years ago. I helped to bridge the gap between them and the International Film Market. Gradually, my productions finished one after another and I got chances to be shown at festivals and win awards. Then I grew to judge other people’s work.

During this period and for a couple of years, I took on so many responsibilities. I later had to give a lot of them up, because I learned that I had to choose just a few most important things to do.

Have you ever lived in the US before? If so, under what circumstances? If not, what aroused your interest in a move to the US?

I have travelled a few times in the US for conferences and film scouting. Those trips aroused my interest to move to the US. I wanted my further development to be in a place with one of the world’s best business’ and natural environment.

How did you decide to pursue an EB1?

I thought my past experiences might help me get an EB1 approval, which I felt was the fastest way that I can realize my dream of living and working in the US, so I decided to pursue an EB1.

What was your experience with the EB1 petition process?

My experience with the EB1 petition process was very good.

What were some of the challenges you had to work on in the preparation of your case, for example evidence gathering?

Yes, evidence gathering is a big challenge, especially when some of the evidence is in the local language, and sometimes acquiring evidence from many years ago would cost a lot of time and energy to gather.

What kind of relationship did/do you have Chris and his team?

I worked closely with the team. Whenever I had a question, I could easily get an answer from the team. This is the most valuable thing for me. I am the only one who can search and gather the evidence quickly, but I couldn’t keep it ongoing, if I didn’t have someone experienced with petition cases to advise me promptly.

What were you doing when you found out you were approved? What was your immediate reaction? How did/will you celebrate?

I was working when I found out I was approved. I felt very happy. I haven’t really celebrated it yet.

What are you looking forward to most about moving to the US?

I look forward most to make new friends and build up a successful business model for my future work.

What will you miss the most about your home country?

Food, and old friends!

What advice would you give to any immigrant considering an EB1 or who is already in the process?

I would advise them to consult thoroughly with the attorney from the very beginning, trust the team during the process, and keep working hard on the research and gathering until it’s successful.
