The Editor Behind the Hobbit Trilogy
Jen is our youngest EB1 Alien of Extraordinary Ability and proves that age does not matter when it comes to a high level of talent. A citizen of New Zealand and highly talented young film editor, Jen was asked to work on The Hobbit movie trilogy, launching her into the next level of stardom and securing her a foothold as an industry leader.
Why Move to the US?
Jen managed to max out her career opportunities in her small island home of New Zealand, prompting her to seek opportunities in other parts of the world, including the US. Jen’s film pedigree landed her several interviews in California, but, as with many employers, none were willing to undertake a visa process on her behalf. Left with many job opportunities, but also many questions about the visa process, Jen sought help from the Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram.
“I interviewed around at a few places, and whilst employers were interested, none were willing to offer a job with the pesky employment sponsorship visa conundrum,” Jen said. “This is how I decided to petition for a visa for myself.”
It was clear from Jen’s accomplishments, not only with The Hobbit franchise but with several other films and top organizations in the industry, that she exhibited an extraordinary ability. It took a bit of convincing, but ultimately, Jen had the confidence, desire, and sense of adventure to undertake the EB1 process.
Is the EB1 Process Difficult?
Jen’s self-admitted impatient nature made it hard for her to wait while the very thorough legal process of putting together her EB1 case was completed, but her end result justified the time as Jen was approved and designated as an Alien of Extraordinary Ability.
“Because of the time difference between New Zealand and the States, I was sleeping when [the Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram] called through with the news,” Jen recalled, “but it was a fantastic phone call to groggily wake up to and definitely a dream come true in more ways that one!”
As Jen continues to pursue her career in her new-found home of San Francisco, which Jen refers to as ‘the land of technical hippies in pursuit of adventure,” she continues to find her own new adventures and expanded Netflix selection.
