BA Graduates:

The H-1B visa is the best visa since sliced bread for anyone with a BA degree or higher looking to come to the US  for a job that requires a BA or higher education. Although, H-1B visas have an annual cap that is reset every April 1st we’re hoping  this year H-1B visas will be available from April1st to July1st before they are all gone. We do not know how long the 65,000 H-1B visas will take to be used up but this would be my guess at this point. What many people do not know, which is why I’m glad to share this with our readers, is that for people coming for non-profit organizations there is no H-1B cap at all and therefore these visas are available all year round and that makes it an even better visa option for those looking to get their start in the non-profit sector. There are many companies that are actually non-profit organizations.

Again I would add that even with this golden opportunity, finding an employer to sponsor you without ever meeting you or without you first establishing some kind of US presence is challenging so it’s really important that you consider the various options that might enable to you to spend a few months in the US exploring your options and developing your relationships. Sitting at home and just submitting your C.V. to job search engines is pretty much a shot in the dark and I’ve personally come across more immigration lottery winners than people who have found a job in the US whilst living in the UK.  80% are jobs found by referral, or personal introductions only 6% are found through advertising. In fact, in my case every break I ever had in the America came as a result of being introduced, or introducing myself in person. Every person my firm hired has been the same way. There’s something powerful about being told by a friend that a certain person would make a really good hire.

If you’re really motivated to make the H-1B graduate season count do your best to get here as soon as you can.
