Rohan is an acclaimed Business Management Analyst at the prestigious professional services company (EY)

Tell me about where you are from and a little bit about what you do.

I grew up in Mumbai, India. I have a Bachelors in Electronics Engineering from India and MBA from Germany. I am a Management Consultant, currently working as an Advisory Manger in a Big 4 Firm. I advise and support my clients to develop pragmatic and executable business and technology strategies that exploit emerging technologies like, Robotic Process Automation, IT Strategic Sourcing, Cloud, Mobile Computing, Digital Transformation while evolving legacy platforms, and enterprise architecture that deliver business value, simplification and rationalization.

How did you work your way up the ranks to reach your level and what were some of the challenges along the way.

During 15 years of my diverse career for prestigious firms like IBM, KPMG and EY, I worked in several countries including India, UK, Germany and the USA and helped many clients across industries to transform their business and technology to achieve increased value and competitive differentiation for the businesses they serve.

Have you ever lived in the US before? If so, under what circumstances? If not, what aroused your interest in a move to the US?

I came to the US on B1 and L1 Visa previously and worked for short durations. It has always been my dream and aspiration to work in the USA. Currently I am working on the H1B visa.

How did you decide to pursue an EB1?

I had approved petition under EB2 category for several years however due to my nationality and the current waiting period under EB2 category, I was not able to file for my green card. After waiting for several years, I finally decided to pursue EB1 as I firmly believed that I had the credentials and qualifications for EB1 category.

Rohan was also a Management Consultant in KPMG’s Shared Services and Outsourcing Advisory(SSOA)

What was your experience with the EB1 petition process?

It has been a great experience. All the efforts taken to form and to solidify the case are totally worth especially when you receive the approval in this category. It has been an interesting and enthralling journey.

What were some of the challenges you had to work on in the preparation of your case, for example evidence gathering?

EB1 process was not easy as I had to collect a lot of evidences about my work, publications, awards, credentials etc. For me, the most challenging part was to get the recommendations from my clients and superiors about my work. However, I was pleasantly surprised when they all agreed to provide recommendations and offered great testimonies about my work

What kind of relationship did/do you have Chris and his team?

I had an amazing caseworker, Gretta, who patiently heard all my queries and provided all the answers. Gretta and Chris’ team helped me gather additional evidences and provided some great tips to strengthen my case. I had a weekly call with Gretta to track updates and my case’s progress. It was a pleasure working with the entire team.

What were you doing when you found out you were approved? What was your immediate reaction? How did/will you celebrate?

It was 6AM on Saturday morning when I was getting ready for my gym class and I saw an email notification with the approval. I was ecstatic and woke my wife up to share the good news. We both were extremely delighted as all our hard work had finally paid off. The celebrations continued for several days as we wanted to completely enjoy our success.

What are you looking forward to most about moving to the US?

I firmly believe that the USA is the greatest country with the best economy in the world. Talent and hard work can help you achieve great heights in this country. This country has a lot of diversity but it respects your individuality.

What will you miss the most about your home country?

My family, friends, food and festivals.

What advice would you give to any immigrant considering an EB1 or who is already in the process?

Be patient. Work on your case. Reach out to your clients and managers for recommendations and testimonials. Make sure that you spend enough time gathering as much evidence as you can.
