Tell me about where you are from and a little bit about what you do.

I was born and raised in India. As soon as I completed my Bachelor’s degree in India, I came to United States to pursue my Masters in Computer Science. Right after my masters I started working with very different companies. Currently I’m working as a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer for a medical device company in Silicon Valley, CA.

I have extensive experience in developing data warehouses, ETL, cubes and reports using the Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack. I am also passionate about Data Analytics and predictive models

How did you work your way up the ranks to reach your level and what were some of the challenges along the way.

For the past three to four years, I have been spending a good amount of time after work reading and going over new technologies and implementing some interesting personal projects.

Have you ever lived in the US before? If so, under what circumstances? If not, what aroused your interest in a move to the US?

Yes, I came to US to pursue my Masters in 2007 and then started working as a IT professional on an H1 B Visa.

How did you decide to pursue an EB1?

I already have an EB-2 via approved with my current employer and was waiting from 2013 for my visa number to be current. Unfortunately for a country like India, the wait time is over a decade. With no changes happening to current Green Card Laws and with huge backlogs I strongly believe that EB-2 approvals are only helpful for extending H1-B beyond 6 years and not really useful to get your Green Card on time.

That’s where I started looking around other options. In fact, I was so lucky that I came across a testimonial from the Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram’s website about someone with an IT background who got his EB1-A approved. Until then Like most of us I was under the impression that EB1-A is only for internationally known people and PhD holders and other scientists.

Afterwards, I contacted Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram and I learned that I satisfied 2 out of 10 Categories at that point and can work on 3rd category to build my case.

What was your experience with the EB1 petition process?

Overall my process was smooth like I anticipated but it took little longer than I thought. After my initial consultation with the Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram, I started working on one of the key category of publishing scholarly articles in reputed journals.

I had to spend time picking a subject to be published in top journals like Red Gate as they accept articles which are not found anywhere else. Even the editorial process increased the time taken to get these articles published.

What were some of the challenges you had to work on in the preparation of your case, for example evidence gathering?

The challenges that I faced are only at the beginning of my EB1-A process like satisfying the third category for publishing articles. The rest of time I was very comfortable in providing any kind of documentation like referral letters and employment letters, etc.

What kind of relationship did/do you have Chris and his team?

I had a very good relationship with the whole team especially Angie and Alicia who I interacted with the most.  I personally liked the way Angie worked. She was my intake specialist so she was the one who understood my credentials initially and helped me during the enrolling process. She was very proactive and would be on the top of addressing any concern that I had on my file.

Chris knows the ins and outs of the immigration system, especially the content he wrote on his website on EB1-A categories, we cannot find elsewhere. He was able to explain the process in such a way that anyone lacking immigration knowledge could easily understand all these EB1-A categoryies.

I had a chance to review my case before submitting to USCIS. I was very happy with the work that Chris and his team had done on my file. The most important and critical part of an EB1-A case depends on how you present it to USCIS officer. The Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram have done an excellent job on that part.

Throughout my file, I noticed that they addressed every piece of EB1-A memorandum as required by law and showcased how my categories satisfied EB1-A Criteria. I hope this attention to detail would help the adjuster to approved the case outright without giving any RFE’s.

What were you doing when you found out you were approved? What was your immediate reaction? How did/will you celebrate?

I filed my case with premium processing and was expecting results within 15 calendar days (before 21st December). I was tired of looking for a status update on the website and waiting for email/SMS alerts which never came within 15 days.

I thought USICIS may have delayed the process because of holidays. But, on the 23rd December, I went to Costco to buy some stuff in the afternoon and I received an image and call on my cell phone from my wife. She told me that I had received a mail from USCIS and that my petition was approved. I didn’t believe it until I came home and saw the approval notice.

There was some issue going on that week on USCIS Case status website and my petition was approved on 19th and took few days to get the mail. The approval of my case was right on time before the year end holidays so I enjoyed all the holidays and celebrated my success with my family and friends.

What are you looking forward to most about moving to the US?

The US is always a land of opportunities and being able to work and live permanently in the US.

What will you miss the most about your home country?

Family and Culture.

What advice would you give to any immigrant considering an EB1 or who is already in the process?

Lot of people who are especially working with IT background have an impression that EB1-A is only for internationally known people and those with a PhD which is not true. The EB1-A is a difficult case to win compared to other categories but it’s not impossible.

If you really considering this option, I would recommend going over the EB1-A articles that you can find on https://www.breakthroughusa.com/ and then list out all the highlight of your life achievements in a way that satisfies the EB1 criteria.

Also, I would recommend you to consult a good EB1-A attorney like Chris Ingram for your initial evaluation.

Even though we think we have very good credentials for EB1-A category the most important and critical part is how you present the case for USCIS which will be possible only with top EB1-A attorneys like Chris.

In order to qualify for an EB1 Green Card you need to be able to satisfy three from a list of ten categories. We’ve provided informative videos on each category for your kind perusal so please review them and get back to us if you feel we can help you.
