EB1 Green Card – Gergana – Film Editor

We attract EB1 Green Card clients from all over the world and we’re always excited when we get a new client working at the top of their field on amazing productions such as the blockbuster film franchise ‘The Expendables’.

In this case we have film editor Gergana from Bulgaria who came to us for help and by the time we’d finished she had her EB1 green card in what felt like no time at all.

For us, helping people like Gergana succeed in the US is such a great rewarding feeling. We wish Gergana every success as she continues work on the blockbusters we love.

Gergana’s family living the American Dream

We’re glad to hear back from Gergana all of the great opportunities she achieved after years of securing her EB1 Green Card with the help of our firm. Below is her update on how she is enjoying life and skyrocketted her career in the US.

Update

I just wanted to send you and the entire team a big thank you. Four years ago, on this day, I got a call from your office that I was approved for an EB1 Green card. I will never forget that call.

I made the move in  and I haven’t looked back. I couldn’t be any happier with my decision.

Today I work at LumaForge, a growing technology company, I had the honor to be the first employee of a little over three years ago. Yesterday, I was promoted to officially be on the executive team of the company. I am extremely passionate about my job but I also make sure I live a balanced life and enjoy the California sun as much as I can. My sister and her husband (who also were your clients) are visiting from San Francisco with my niece who will be 4-years old in September and happens to be my best friend. My sister is pregnant with a their second child and expecting in October.

I also got very lucky and found a sweet guy to be my boyfriend and now we live together.

I hope you know that what you guys do is changing lives. I hope you are all doing well and are feeling appreciated every day!

Thank you for the great life you helped me create for myself!

The Interview

1. Tell me about where you are from and a little bit about your career and what you do.

I am from Bulgaria and I work as a film editor at Nu Boyana Film Studios. I’ve worked on projects like Expendables 3, The Legend of Hercules 3D, Septembers of Shiraz.

2. Have you ever lived in the US before? If so, under what circumstances? If not, what aroused your interest in a move to the US?

Between December 2013 and March 2014 I was an intern in Udaya Entertainment, which is a company that was located in Santa Monica and Venice, California at the time. It fell in love with the Los Angeles in general because there is always some filming going on. I felt that in an environment like this I will be able to get even more inspired and accomplish more.

 3. How did you decide to pursue anEB1?

GerganaI was having doubts for let’s say a year because I am doing very well with my career in Europe. My sister and brother-in-law who live in San Francisco (also thanks to the EB1 team of The Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram ) insisted on me considering it harder.

It was always only a matter of time I think and I had a strong feeling that now is the time.

 4. What was your experience with the EB1 petition process? Did you ever consider giving up? What was your motivation to keep pressing on?

AwardIn the beginning it was difficult to start thinking of myself as somebody with extraordinary skills and abilities. I had to look back and find these achievements who seemed to me as ordinary but people would say “Wow! Did you work on that?”. Then because my job is so visual it was hard to imagine how this is gonna be represented on paper. Also I had a frustrating moment when I realized one of the 4 categories I was going for, wasn’t suitable for me so I gave it up. But the attorneys explained to me that with 3 categories, my case will still be strong enough. Turns out they were right.

 5. What kind of relationship did/do you have Chris and his team?

It’s been very easy to communicate with all the team members who were contacting me in the different stages of the process. They were friendly and helpful, having regular phone calls and e-mails was definitely something that helped me stay motivated. I’m very grateful my brother-in-law recommended them for my case.

 6. What were you doing when you found out you were approved? What was your immediate reaction? How did/will you celebrate?

The afternoon before the call me and two of my closest friends left Sofia City to go for a vacation at the seaside. But I insisted to stop at my parents house, have dinned with them and spend the night there. So when I got the call I was with my family and two of my best friends. I immediately called my brother-in-law who was helping me the entire time so I could share this moment with my sister and him too.

 7. What are you looking forward to most about moving to the US?

A few things are very exciting to me. Firstly, I am curious how well I can do competing and working with the best professionals in the business. Also, I looking forward to having a whole new life too, to get some new and exciting life experience. And last but not least, getting together with my sister and her husband is something I’m very much looking forward.

 8. What will you miss the most about living in Bulgaria?

My parents, my friends, my colleagues.

 9. What advice would you give to any immigrant considering anEB1or who is already in the process?

Go for it. It seems more difficult than it is. There will be always somebody from The Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram to answer your questions and help you.
