Tell me about where you are from and a little bit about your career and what you do.

I am from New Zealand and I own and run a Hot Rod Fabrication shop. I also am heavily involved in drag racing both in New Zealand and in the USA.

Have you ever lived in the US before? If so, under what circumstances? If not, what aroused your interest in a move to the US?

No I haven’t resided here, but I fell in love with America after my first vacation with my Mom when I was 13 years old and it has been a love affair ever since. I have been back to the US 29 times over the years for both vacation and business.

How did you decide to pursue an EB1?

After many attempts at various options I was finally directed towards the EB1 as a possible option.

What was your experience with the EB1 petition process?

The process requires a lot of time and dedication with regards to collecting all the evidence required. This is not a process that you could complete without the assistance of an EB1 specialist team.

What were some of the challenges you had to work on in the preparation of your case, for example evidence gathering?

Trying to find the evidence required for the categories that I was going for that spanned a 25 year career.

What kind of relationship did/do you have Chris and his team?

I never got to deal with Chris personally, but I did have the pleasure of meeting the team who was preparing my case on two occasions when I was in the US on business. I found them to be great to deal with, very professional and unrelenting in going the extra mile to ensure my case would be successful.

What were you doing when you found out you were approved? What was your immediate reaction? How did/will you celebrate?

Because of the time difference I had only just got in to work to start my day. I was absolutely stunned and speechless because my case was processed and approved so quickly.

What are you looking forward to most about moving to the US?

Being able to enjoy all our lifestyle activities without the big expense of airfares and a 13- hour flight.

What will you miss the most about your home country?

Friends.

What advice would you give to any immigrant considering an EB1 or who is already in the process?

Keep your eyes on the prize, and don’t give up.
