Family comes first: For Software Director Bharathwaj, the journey to acquiring his green card started with a goal to secure his daughter’s future in a timely manner. The software director with a distinguished and accomplished work history turned to the Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram to acquire his EB1.

Tell me about where you are from and a little bit about what you do?

I am a Software Engineer with over 20 years of experience. I started my career as a software developer in India way back in 2002. I moved to the US in 2012 and have since been in leadership roles like Senior Engineering Manager, Director of engineering etc in leading software companies.

Why do you want to live in America? What’s so special about America?

We moved to the US in 2012 and we fell in love instantly with the country. It is a land of many opportunities. We love the people and the lifestyle in the US. Like so many other Indians we were in the immigration queue for a long time. Our biggest fear was about our daughter who is very close to aging out (she is almost 21) before our GC arrives.

What was your visa choice and how did you come to that decision?

I was on EB2 India line for a long time. With my priority date still 4 1/2 years behind the current date, I had no hopes that I would get my GC in near future, at least not before my daughter turns 21. I was very keen on protecting her future so I started exploring alternatives. Two options came up, EB1-C for which I can move to India or Canada and come back on a L-1A visa. This is tough since I can’t take my high school going daughter with me as that would disturb her academic progress. That meant I had to would have to separate from my family which I did not want. Based on this I determined that the EB1-A seemed to be the right choice for me.

How would you describe your experience in working with us?

Right from the time I was onboarded by their in-take specialist, I felt I was in safe hands. I have worked with multiple immigration attorneys both for my cases as well as cases of my reporting members in various companies. Here are the things I like about the Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram, the process was very clear, each step was clearly outlined including guidelines, fees and due dates. The team assigned to me was very professional and transparent. The dashboard is super useful to understand where things stand and what’s pending. The team kept me updated on progress every week. Every Thursday, I received a status email clearly highlighting the progress of my case. The team was very approachable and most often I get answers within the same day. The team took extra efforts to ensure all my questions were answered, calming my nerves all throughout the process.

What were some of the evidence challenges you had to work on in the preparation of your case?

I did not have any challenges in getting the evidences. The toughest part was to understand what was needed in each category and the case workers were very instrumental in helping me on that.

What were you doing when you found out you were approved? What was your immediate reaction? How did/will you celebrate?

I was constantly on the USCIS case status site since the day my case was filed in premium processing. I was super thrilled that the major hurdle in my path to getting a GC was out of the way. We did not celebrate at that point. We waited for our GC to get approved which happened fairly quickly after that. When we got through the whole process we were over the moon. We are very relieved that our daughter’s future is safe or at least in our hands.

Would you recommend your family and friends and why?

I would absolutely refer my friends. In fact, I have already referred two of my friends and I am going to refer two more.
