Tell me about where you are from and a little bit about what you do.

I have spent the last 20 years living in the UK and working as an IT consultant mostly in Europe market. I worked in project managing, application releases, and change and test management space for most part. I think one of the best thing of being a consultant is that you have the flexibility of working within several markets and industries thereby gaining experience and transferable skills much quicker. Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to live/work and be a part of America way of life – the freedom to pursuit your happiness, your greatest aspirations and live freely and this has been the driving factor in my contacting the “Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram.

How did you work your way up the ranks to reach your level and what were some of the challenges along the way.

I started as an IT Support Engineer for a huge media organization in the UK providing service and desk side support to business users for couple years then I moved into project managing for the same organization delivering technical infrastructure projects from news studio setting to move relocation planning and completing. Soon after I left to work for other organizations as a project manager including working for one of the world’s fast moving goods in Switzerland It was during my project management experience I realized, I am most productive when dealing with release, change and test management issues and this led me to having professional training. Also looked for positions in these areas, I got sucked in while working for an industry standard testing tool manufacturer and a global consultancy firm as a test manager delivery a transformation project since then my experience has enhanced and transitioned into managing and setting testing frameworks, processes, defining/implementing testing strategy, approach and providing continuous process improvement for reputable global companies.

Have you ever lived in the US before? If so, under what circumstances? If not, what aroused your interest in a move to the US?

I have not really lived in the US but I have visited several of the US states because a lot of my extended family members having been living in the US since the 70s. While visiting I see how your surroundings can either push you to be greater as combined to putting you in a status quo. My desire to live, work and grow in the US might have started right from my high school days which is now decades ago. I believe there isn’t any other country in the world that does compare, if you have the drive and determination in making something wonderful the US enables you to have such avenues towards getting your dreams accomplished.

How did you decide to pursue an EB1?

In initially contacted the Law Office of Chris M. Ingram in 2010 and spoke to Chris M. Ingram as I was trying to analyze what possible options are out there that will best suit my dream of relocating to the US. At that time, I thought franchise or setting up my own business of any sort in the US was my option. Then I got then I don’t think this law firm will be able to assist me so I parked the idea of furthering any engagement with Chris M. Ingram Law Office, by 2012 in my journey of setting up my own business in the US with through a San Francisco development company I lost several 10’s of thousands of pounds – ended without any capital, no business startup and nothing.

Sometime in 2014, I thought to myself re-engage with Chris M. Ingram Law Office to see if there is any way I can actually obtain a suitable visa of some sought, I said to myself I want to be able to say at least I did all I could possibly do to achieve this dream regardless of losing so much money, there is no way then I will wrap the slate clean and think something different. I did re-engaged further and we started looking at several types of visas and with a great team of specialist/expert in their fields were able to guide me onto the EB1 path as the best option.

What was your experience with the EB1 petition process?

The process was a nice experience that enabled me to cultivate article writing abilities about my work and industry. Lindsey and the entire team were able to offer their support and direction from them helped me position my case with relevant evidence gathering.

The process took several months to complete which was nerve racking but once my petition was submitted the turnaround time from the government is very quick and straightforward.

What were some of the challenges you had to work on in the preparation of your case, for example evidence gathering?

Giving the for the EB1 petition, I only needed to satisfy three category, the most difficult one was the scholar/writing evidence. I had to write and publish several articles with leading online or print magazine organizations. Finding those and getting them to review/editorialized my articles for publication took months but the challenge was an enjoyable one because I now add published articles to my resume. The other two categories were pretty easy to present to Chris M. Ingram Law Office for approval which took just couple of weeks to complete.

What kind of relationship did/do you have Chris and his team?

Chris and his team are very resourceful and knowledgeable in their respective fields. I remember my first conversation with Chris in 2010, I wished I followed through then it would have saved me huge financial losses. Re-engaging with Chris and his team and investigating the various visa types and the best route for me to take was very rewarding. At the early stages I did not think I have three categories to qualify for EB1 but their analysis and guidance provided me the confidence to choose that route.

What were you doing when you found out you were approved? What was your immediate reaction? How did/will you celebrate?

I was actually at work and I saw a missed call on my mobile phone from Chris M. Ingram office then I saw an email from Tanya while leaving work. I started to wonder this has to be good, so I emailed Tanya to call me, which she did, behold Tanya delivered the best news yet, the answer I have been waiting for. I think I had an out of body experience. After I finished talking to Tanya, I went down on my knees and thank the greatest being who is the true Alpha and Omega for this blessing. When I got home on Thursday evening because I currently do a weekly commute in my job, I told my family members who are equally excited. A proper celebration is been wrapped into Christmas and New Year’s Day to usher in the year of wonderful achievements.

What are you looking forward to most about moving to the US?

I am looking forward to finding a great job with work/life balance and for the chance for my daughter to go to some of the best schools around. I think getting the best value out of myself and to contribute to a great society is something I am also looking forward to do.

What will you miss the most about your home country?

Having spent 20 years in the UK, my brothers, sisters and mother lives here will be something I will miss because we are quite a close-knit family. I will also miss the bake beans, accessible African food markets and the ability to walk around as compared to drive around all the time.

What advice would you give to any immigrant considering an EB1 or who is already in the process?

My advice is for a potential immigrant to discuss their concerns with a legal team, if they don’t have one they should get one because there are some so many ways you can qualify without you knowing. Chris M. Ingram’s team offer due diligence and their duty of care will guide you through gathering your evidence, reviewing your documents and materials. The process will also give you, individual confidence that if you can convince a complete stranger about your professional experience who isn’t in your field you would be able to gain any job opportunity you so wish to apply for in your field when you land the shores of United States.
