EB1 Green Card Success with BeatButcher Music Producer

Music Producer BeatButcher - Mr. In Control

Music Producer BeatButcher – Mr. In Control

Producer Hits EB1 Success: It’s our great privilege to introduce you to music producer Eliot aka Beatbutcher. For a person so well connected and working with some of the most iconic artists in the Hip-Hop world Elliot from the UK was remarkably humble. No ego. Funny thing most Brits in particular are very humble about their accomplishments, too humble for US Immigration that for sure. Anyway, after discussing Eliot’s case we knew we had a winner on our hands. When one of your co-writers is 50 Cent, I think the case was won right there. Anyway, we’re pleased to share his story with you. Enjoy.

Producer BeatButcher and Rapper 50 Cent Team Up

Producer BeatButcher and Rapper 50 Cent Team Up – how Cool is that!

1. Tell me about where you are from and a little bit about what you do.

Reflections – Man, I’ve come a long way.

My name is Eliot aka Beat Butcher & I am a music producer & sound designer from the UK, specializing primarily within the Hip Hop and R&B genres. Basically I write and perform the backing tracks/beats/instrumentals to songs & help direct the song creation process. I also create content & products aimed at the music production/technology market, that is to say I make/record sounds that are on the market for musicians for use in their music. I have produced for a long list of artists including G-Unit, Xzibit, Jadakiss, Plan-B & Mr Probz and I have created content for products released by Steinberg & Drumbroker.

2. How did you work your way up the ranks to reach your level and what were some of the challenges along the way.

My answer to this question could be an essay in itself, as it’s been a long journey with plenty of hurdles. But I will keep it short, there is no manual on how to build a music career & everyone’s path is different. Everything was a learning curve and it took me quite some years to understand what would work for me in a sustainable way. Building a network in America whilst living in the UK is not the easiest of things, but essentially a lot of traveling, hard work, networking & talent paid off. Once I had a few notable names on my discography, finding work with bigger names became easier & here I am now.

BeatButcher Showing How its Done

3. Have you ever lived in the US before? If so, under what circumstances? If not, what aroused your interest in a move to the US?

I have never lived in the States, my reason to move to the States is career-based. My network is largely in the USA & the cutting edge of the music genre I make lies in America. I also have a lot of very good American friends that I have met along the way, who I consider family.

 4. How did you decide to pursue an EB1?

I actually initially inquired about a Visa as I wasn’t aware that I was eligible for a green card. My knowledge of US immigration is scarce, so I was delighted when I heard that a green card was possible. As Visas can be restrictive & only last a few years, and it was my intention to move to the States for the foreseeable future & the EB1 makes that possible.

 5. What was your experience with the EB1 petition process?

It has been a lot of work, pretty lengthy & a bit frustrating at times. But the team have worked hard & I’m very happy it’s been approved!!

6. What were some of the challenges you had to work on in the preparation of your case, for example evidence gathering?

The main issues were with applying the EB1 guidelines to my profession, the guidelines are written with other parts of the entertainment industry in mind. Other than that, it was figuring out who the best people might be for me to get letters from & making sure those were written in a useful way. I have done a lot of work over the years, so sourcing/remembering some of the articles to support my case and picking what would work the best was also challenging at times.

BeatButcher – Totally Down With it.

7. What kind of relationship did/do you have Chris and his team?

We have a good relationship, the team are all friendly, hard working and personable.

 8. What were you doing when you found out you were approved? What was your immediate reaction? How did/will you celebrate?

I woke up to an e-mail from the office saying I should call them when I had a moment. Unsure what it was about, I was a little worried, so I called as soon as I could & was happy to find out it had been approved. I haven’t celebrated yet, but I will celebrate once the whole green card process is complete.

9. What are you looking forward to most about moving to the US?

I’m moving to LA from Europe, so an obvious thing is the climate & also the creative environment. I’m looking forward to being able to seize more opportunities, being able to make new contacts and strengthen my relationships within my network.

Hard Work Really Does Pay Off! – For Real.

10. What will you miss the most about your home country?

 Free health care.

11. What advice would you give to any immigrant considering an EB1 or who is already in the process?

Be aware of the time frame it might take & be patient.
