Tell me about where you are from and a little bit about what you do.
I was born and raised in Mumbai, India where I also graduated as a computer engineer. A few months after graduation I started working for an Indian tech company. Over the course of the next few years, I become an expert in PeopleSoft ERP and travelled the world to implement it for several businesses vertical across the globe. After coming to the US, I expanded my technology knowledge about open source solutions and how they can be used to solve business problems. Finally, I very recently joined a media/tech start up in Los Angeles wherein I manage extra-large to large tech programs which results in massive subscriber growth.
How did you work your way up the ranks to reach your level and what were some of the challenges along the way.
It took about a decade & half worth of hard work to achieve some professional success. Being on a visa did put me at a disadvantage since it controlled which areas I could grow into and hence stretched the amount of time it took to achieve the professional success that I enjoy today.
Have you ever lived in the US before? If so, under what circumstances? If not, what aroused your interest in a move to the US?
USA is the land opportunities where every dreamer and hardworking individual can expect to earn a decent wage and secure a good future.
How did you decide to pursue an EB1?
I was born in India and the US has a birth country wise cap on how many GCs can be given each year. For India born individuals, the priority dates are years behind and the rate at which USCIS is processing these cases, it may take another few years before we get our GC. EB1 was more current and given my skills it seemed like a feasible path to take.
What was your experience with the EB1 petition process?
The whole process of getting a GC is very long and testing and the EB1 was essentially similar. It needed a lot of documentation and patience along the way. The Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram made it as seamless and painless as possible by guiding me throughout the process.
What were some of the challenges you had to work on in the preparation of your case, for example evidence gathering?
Documenting and evidence gathering took a long time. My team at the Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram was very helpful, they provided guidance every step of the way and provided templates/examples which assisted greatly as well.
What kind of relationship did/do you have Chris and his team?
The Ingram team is very helpful, always available to answer any question and most importantly, came through as very experienced. I see their guidance as one of the key reasons for the success of my case.
What were you doing when you found out you were approved? What was your immediate reaction? How did/will you celebrate?
I was elated and had this adrenaline rush. I ran towards my wife, called my family and friends. We went out and bought some donuts to celebrate.
What are you looking forward to most about moving to the US?
I am already in the US.
What will you miss the most about your home country?
I would miss my parents & relatives the most.
What advice would you give to any immigrant considering an EB1 or who is already in the process?
It is a long, tiring and patience testing process. The Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram has a lot of experience in dealing with EB1 cases and if they believe your case has the strength, I would recommend taking that leap because it’s worth it at the end.
