Tell me about where you are from and a little bit about what you do?

I am an Infrastructure Architect working for Amazon Web Services. I specialize in Security & Networking.  I started my career as a software QA Engineer in India way back in 2008. I moved to the US in 2011 and have since been involved in various digital transformation & Cloud Migration for large enterprises. I am an insightful and dedicated Multi-Cloud Architect. My primary focus is setting up a well architected framework for large enterprise customers with a focus on security, reliability, performance, sustainability, operational efficiency and cost optimization.

Why do you want to live in America? What’s so special about America?

I moved to the US in 2011 and I was amazed by the opportunities offered in the field of Information Technology. As a person who started my journey as a QA Tester, I could not thank the USA for giving me the opportunity to grow as an Architect. This country offers opportunities to develop new skills and scale yourself as a leader in any area you aspire for. This passion is what drove me to look for permanent residency options.

What was your visa choice and how did you come to that decision?

Just like millions of my fellow Indians who work in IT, I was also stuck in the EB2 Visa backlog. My Priority date was December 2015 and I did have a slight ray of hope when the dates progressed to Jan 2015 in 2021. I was hoping my dates will be current & I had great hope that I would be able to get my GC by 2023. But I was disappointed when the EB2 dates retrogressed to 2012. With lot of churns and layoffs happening in the tech industry in 2023, I was looking for a way to overcome all these H1 dependencies & visa sponsorship. I was trying to work with Chris Ingram for EB1 case for my spouse, who is a Bharatanatyam dancer. I got a chance to talk to one of the intake professionals during my spouse’s case intro & she asked me to explore the possibility of EB1 for myself. Until then, I did not know of any convincing reason to apply in EB1. I am thankful to Chris Ingram’s team for providing the opportunity to explore the EB1 visa.

Sathish works with large companies to secure their network and provide support.

How would you describe your experience in working with us?

When I started working with the caseworkers, I did not have any idea about EB1. I wanted to target at least 5 categories & I did not qualify for any one of them when I started. It took a solid 10 months to a year to build my profile for the EB1. Chris Ingram and his team guided me for judging and scholarly articles. I was able to build my profile with six Categories at the end of 10 months. Thanks a lot for Andrea Morales & Eileen for helping me to build a profile. Patience was the key ingredient in achieving this success. I was impatient at times. But the case workers helped in guiding me with the right evidence at every stage of my case.

What were some of the evidence challenges you had to work on in the preparation of your case?

The biggest challenge was in getting the Published materials about you. Initially, I got some media coverage, but the circulation numbers were not satisfactory & then I had to rework after the case had been compiled. But the caseworkers helped me to overcome this challenge & helped in compiling the case with the best evidence for submission. Also I had some challenges in compiling the final merits. I ensured that I added evidence for at least six categories for the final merits. Collecting the evidence for the membership was also a little challenging, as USCIS had a very specific criteria for establishing the evidence for Membership.

What were you doing when you found out you were approved? What was your immediate reaction? How did you celebrate?

I was very excited when I received the approval email from USCIS. I remember it was a Thursday afternoon & I just came out of a very long customer meeting. I was casually browsing some of the emails & the approval email from USCIS took me to the moon. Finally, a year of hard work and effort paid rich dividends.
