Tell me about where you are from and a little bit about what you do.

I’m a software engineer working for law enforcement. I’m originally from India, but I studied in the UK for four years then came over to the US on a H1-B visa where I worked whilst completing my Masters degree.

How did you work your way up the ranks to reach your level and what were some of the challenges along the way?

Education and hard work! The biggest challenges I’ve faced were usually getting the necessary visas to do the type of work I wanted to do as a software engineer.

EB1 – Enjoying great Florida weather!

Have you ever lived in the US before? If so, under what circumstances? If not, what aroused your interest in a move to the US?

Coming to the US, particularly Florida, was great for two reasons: a good job market for software engineers and great weather!

How did you decide to pursue an EB1?

I heard about the EB1 visa but always thought it was just for people with a PhD etc. One day whilst searching the internet about visa options I saw an advertisement for BreakthroughUSA and thought I’d call them to get some advice. They were very helpful, explained what I could do to qualify for an EB1 and sent me away with homework to do. They touched base with me every fortnight or so to see how I was getting on then once everything was in place I became a client and we began the process of applying.

What was your experience with the EB1 petition process?

It’s a very doable process once you have good guidance from someone like Chris Ingram. When I first started I didn’t think I could even get three of the necessary categories, but with clear instructions and hard work I ended up with four!

What were some of the challenges you had to work on in the preparation of your case, for example evidence gathering?

The first challenge was getting articles written and published. Secondly was the writing of my letter of intent.  There were several drafts before I got it just right.

What kind of relationship did/do you have with Chris and his team?

Very good. I worked with several case workers over the course of my applications as they spanned several years. Sometimes there were challenges to get appointments, but once I did they were great.  They always had an answer for me.

What were you doing when you found out you were approved? What was your immediate reaction? How did/will you celebrate?

It was wonderful having the HB-1 and EB1 approved but getting my green card was the biggest celebration of all!

What are you looking forward to most about moving to the US?

I am now looking forward to furthering my career options with even more prestigious companies.

Deepak worked hard for a happy family!

What will you miss the most about your home country?

My family. It’s been a while since I lived in India!

What advice would you give to any immigrant considering an EB1 or who is already in the process?

Consider the EB1, read it carefully then be prepared to work hard on it.  It’s very achievable if you put in the time and effort.

In order to qualify for an EB1 Green Card you need to be able to satisfy three from a list of ten categories. We’ve provided informative videos on each category for your kind perusal so please review them and get back to us if you feel we can help you.
