TN Visas for Mexicans and Canadians Part – 4
TN Visas for Mexicans and Canadians
Spouse and Children
A major downside of the TN visa for the longer term is that spouses and children are not eligible for work authorization, which can be very difficult for a family with children over 15.
An important point to note is that if the spouse is Canadian and secures graduate-level employment, they can also independently apply for their own TN visa.
Spouses and children are issued TD visas, while the primary applicant is issued a TN visa.
Spouses and Children will be granted the same time as their spouse’s TN.
Securing Green Card Status
When relocating to the U.S., you need to consider the dynamics of your family. For example, the family’s short term immigration needs and their long term immigration needs. The TN visa will resolve your short term U.S. Immigration need, and then exploring green card opportunities should be considered as a priority also. For example, if you have teenage children, it’s essential that you secure their green card status well before their 21st birthday. There are a variety of ways to achieve green card status through the EB-1, EB-2, EB-3, and E-B5 green card pathways.
Always Hire a Great Attorney to Represent You
Immigration law is a complex and ever-changing field that profoundly impacts the lives of individuals seeking to navigate its intricacies. Whether pursuing citizenship, facing deportation, or applying for a visa, the stakes are undeniably high. This makes the importance of hiring a well-qualified attorney to represent you in immigration matters indisputable. Not only can a seasoned attorney provide expert guidance, but they can also help prevent costly mistakes that often arise when individuals attempt to handle immigration cases on their own.
One of the critical reasons hiring a well-qualified attorney is paramount is the complexity of immigration law itself. The U.S. immigration system is governed by a labyrinth of statutes, regulations, and procedures that are not only intricate to understand but also subject to frequent changes. Each immigration case is unique, with its nuances that require a deep understanding of the law. A qualified attorney stays abreast of the latest developments and can interpret the law as it applies to individual circumstances, thereby maximizing the chances of a successful outcome.
