Vishwamithra’s Journey – EB-1

Vishwamithra's Journey - EB-1

Ocean Innovator: Vishwamithra’s EB1A Success Story

Not being a stranger to either hard work or collaborating on projects placed Vishwamithra Reddy Sunkara in good stead after taking the plunge and securing the services of the Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram for the application of his EB1 visa.  He readily admits to the evidence gathering being a challenge.  However, just as when Vishwamithra came to the US to do his PhD, he was able to recognise a good opportunity and act on it and because of our expert help and guidance he is now able to share his story of success.

Tell me about where you are from and a little bit about what you do?

I’m originally from India and came to the US for my master’s and PhD. I specialize in Unmanned Maritime Domain dealing with the Unmanned systems and the Ocean Science Data. I work on using the Unmanned systems and the ocean science data for several ocean applications like weather forecasting, improving marine aquaculture operations, testing, and evaluating prototype Unmanned systems and sensors.

Why do you want to live in America? What’s so special about America?

Before coming to the US, I had plans to go back to India after finishing my masters. But given the ongoing advanced research on unmanned vehicles, the research facilities, and labs available in the US for advanced research work, ample job opportunities, and the support from the government to fund my research work, I changed my mind.

What was your visa choice and how did you come to that decision?

I was approved under EB-1A alien of extraordinary ability. When I decided to apply for a Green Card, I reviewed my profile myself to check if I would be eligible for an EB1 or EB2. I had all the evidence to prove my extraordinary ability but was still in doubt. Chris Ingram’s office assured me that I was totally qualified for the EB-1 category and so I went ahead with the process.

How would you describe your experience in working with us?

Overall, I had a good experience working with my case workers Stuti, Amit, and Gladys. Though the whole process took longer than I expected, we got the result we wanted. I had problems with the online portal, call scheduling, and changes in supporting letters templates which took a significant amount of our time, but I understand the team is busy with many other cases, and the issues were resolved swiftly. Nevertheless, the applicant also needs to coordinate and communicate with the case workers regularly to finish the case arguments quickly.

What were some of the evidence challenges you had to work on in the preparation of your case?

I was eligible for four categories in the EB1 criteria and had evidence for all of them. However obtaining the recommendation letters from field experts took some time and collecting all the press media talking about me and my work also was hard.

What were you doing when you found out you were approved? What was your immediate reaction? How did/will you celebrate?

I was luckily working from home on the day I received the email from USCIS stating my I-140 was approved. I was overjoyed and hugged my daughter and my wife who were sitting just beside me. We then celebrated dining in our favorite restaurant.

Would you recommend your family and friends and why?

I would recommend the Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram as they are good at portraying your case to USCIS for approval in any category you are applying for. They help you to get the right evidence needed for your application.

In order to qualify for an EB1 Green Card you need to be able to satisfy three from a list of ten categories. We’ve provided informative videos on each category for your kind perusal so please review them and get back to us if you feel we can help you.
