Article – The Economy Outlook

The year 2009 is turning out to be quite a year of contrasts. On the one hand we have the backdrop of the global recession, and on the other, we have the prospects of monumental changes in US Immigration. President Obama is determined to reform US Immigration, primarily to help those who have found themselves out of status.

If there is one thing that is absolutely certain in this present global economy, it  is that the recession will not last. It is really important to take this thought in for a moment because far too many people are sleep-walking through this recession rather than working as hard as they can to plan and prepare for the turn around. Recessions provide some of the most bountiful opportunities. Question: when do you want to buy a home or a business? Answer: when property prices are at their lowest. A recession creates those opportunities.

Often we sit back and wait for everything to be just perfect before we jump. Maybe we’re waiting for the exchange rate to tip one way or the other. Maybe some are waiting for their children to get a little older perhaps to finish exams. We can all justify reasons to delay, but at the end of the day, life does not wait. Instead of waiting for perfect conditions, we should be embracing the challenges ahead, with the confidence of knowing that if you can make it in hard times, then it can only get better from there. Insulating yourself from these times can only create false realities because no matter where you live there will always be ups and downs. My message is let’s get busy living.

If you are serious about moving to America, we’ll help you. Is it going to be easy? A piece of cake? Smooth sailing? Of course not! Moving just up the road in your own town isn’t easy let alone across the world. But is it worth it? Absolutely! I’m coming up to my 10th anniversary in the US. My children were 5, 10 and 12 then. The economy was not great at that time and the exchange rate when we sold our house in the UK was $1.34 to the UK pound. My only enduring regret in having moved was why I didn’t move sooner. My entire family has done well here in so many ways. The opportunities for our children were greatly expanded just by being here. Our son, who was ten years old when he arrived, has now joined the US Air Force pursuing an Officer’s career, and our two girls, now 22 and 15, both very artistic, (performing arts and  fashion design and production respectively) are forging and mapping out the best direction in which to do them.

What we thrive on most of all in America is the “possibility”. Anything is possible here. It’s entirely up to you. Statistically, immigrants are four times more likely to become millionaires because when they arrive they see the possibility in ways US citizens do not. For me, just living in California bathed in sun 300 days a year is enough all by itself. Everything else is a bonus! For others, it might be to live with their loved ones or family members, and for many people it could be the expanse of career options and opportunities. Whatever your American Dream, don’t let it pass you by; it’s yours for the taking, but you’ve got to be bold, courageous, determined, tenacious and resolute. Afterall, America is known as the ‘land of the free, home of the brave’ for a good reason!

Because of the volume of people wishing to relocate to America, US Immigration has laid down certain criteria or categories. In order to be considered as a viable migrant you must be able to satisfy one of the following categories: –

1. Do you have US citizen parents, siblings, spouse or fiancé(e)?
2. Are you a skilled worker or BA graduate (or above) with a job offer?
3. Do you have access to substantial cash i.e., equity in your home to invest in a US business e.g., $75k+?
4. Do you have extraordinary expertise in business, sciences, arts or sport – at or near the top of your profession?
5. Do you have the opportunity of being transferred to the US to a branch of the same company?
6. As a business owner / executive, would you be willing to open a US branch of the same company?
7. Do you have a desire to become a student and have the funds to cover such expenses e.g., $20k ?

Without these restrictions America would be inundated with applicants from around the world seeking a better life. If you believe you can meet any of the above requirements we can most likely help you with all of your US Immigration needs. In fact, it would be our pleasure to do so.
