Part 3 of 4: K-1 Visa – Uniting Love Across Borders
The petition was approved in seven months, and David prepared Li for her March 2025 interview at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. Through four mock interviews, Li practiced answering questions like, “Why did you meet online?” and “How will you adjust to U.S. life?” At the interview, the consular officer probed their two-year courtship and Michael’s limited Mandarin skills. Li’s confident responses and extensive evidence, including a San Francisco wedding venue booking, secured visa approval. At the San Francisco port of entry, CBP officers questioned Li’s J-1 history, but David’s letter of explanation and engagement photos ensured entry after a brief secondary inspection.
Michael and Li married in a garden ceremony in May 2025, with 60 guests celebrating their cross-cultural love. David guided them through the adjustment of status process, securing Li’s green card by November 2025. Their success highlights the importance of legal expertise in navigating country-specific challenges for Chinese applicants.
